murder your darlings

I have a habit of taking old paintings, tearing them apart, and trying to put them back together. Here is an updated version of an older painting that I did this afternoon. As Ian McCaig says, sometimes you have to murder your darlings. – in other words don’t get too attached to your work – everything is disposable and can be improved upon.

afternoon study

Not much time to post anything lately, but here is a quick study I did of a Z.S. Liang painting.  While working on Turok I started picking up copies of Western Art Collector magazine, and his stuff was a real standout to me.  About an hour.
